Honoring & preserving
the sports heritage
of Rome, NY

2nd annual Ruth M. Demers National Girls and Women in Sports Day Breakfast

The Rome Sports Hall of Fame and Museum will be hosting the breakfast at the Delta Lake Inn on March 16, from 9am to noon. One of more than 1,000 events taking place across the country in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Congress has proclaimed this national day each year since 1987. The National Girls and Women in Sports Organization recognizes the extraordinary progress sparked by Title IX and the ongoing effort to ensure access to sports for girls and women. Research demonstrates that girls who play sports have better health, higher self-esteem, stronger leadership skills, greater academic achievement and economic opportunity. Let's work together through NGWSD to get these girls in the game and expand their opportunities both in sports and in life. (http://ngwsd.org/).

The Rome Sports Hall of Fame promotes Girls & Women in Sports, partnering with the Rome City School District and Rome Catholic to create opportunities for all young girls and High School athletes and to celebrate athletic participation and help young girls learn a new sport and encourage them to continue participation through their high school years and beyond!

Guest speaker this year will be Jess Jecko, Goalie for the USA National Field Hockey Team and Graduate of Syracuse University and Sauquoit High School.

Free admission for 7-12 grade females and sign ups available at Strough and RFA through the Physical Education Dept. Seating is limited and there is a $10 charge for Adults.
